Flash Flood Warning For Monmouth Through 8:30 p.m. Monday

Wind guest of 50 mph and pea size hail are possible with these kinds of storms, the National Weather Service says.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Central Jersey, including Monmouth County, until 8:30 p.m. Monday.

A strong thunderstorm in eastern Monmouth and northeastern Ocean County is expected to dump two inches of rain.

As of 4:30 p.m., Doppler radar indicated that very heavy rain is on its way.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams. Streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots will be vulnerable.

The National Weather Service reminds motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways to avoid risk of being swept off the road.
