Aston Martin Crashes Into Tree on Holmdel Road

The early Wednesday morning crash occurred at Dante's Way. The driver was from Holmdel and has been charged with driving under the influence.

Update, 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 29: The victim, Jarrod Isoldi, remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

______________

A Holmdel car acccident victim was transported by helicopter to a New Brunswick hospital after the sports car he was driving hit a tree off Holmdel Road, near Dante's Way, around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Jarrod Isoldi, 39, of Tolas Drive in Holmdel was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, operating under the influence, and reckless driving, according to Holmdel Police.

He was the sole driver of the vehicle, a 2012 Aston Martin, said police. Isoldi was headed south on the roadway when the car left the roadway and hit a tree.

Isoldi had to be extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Robert Wood University Hospital by NJ State Police Northstar.

This section of Holmdel Road has seen more than its fair share of accidents. There were accidents in this area in 2011, on December 7 and a bread truck crash on Oct. 3.

The crash is under investigation by Ptl. John Maguire of the Holmdel Police Department.

Aston Martin is a British luxury car maker brand.

Assisting officers were Sgt. Edward Martinez, Sgt. Michael Pigott, Ptl. Gerard Burke, Ptl. John Allen, and Ptl. James Archinaco.

Also assisting at the scene were Holmdel Fire Company #2, Holmdel First Aid Squad, and MONOC paramedics.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Holmdel Police Department Traffic Safety unit at 732-946-9690 ext. 1731

Thanks for the victim's update. Out of respect for this man and his family, since he is still in critical condition, I think that further postings about DUI and/or the curve should cease until he is recovered.
Shane August 23, 2012 at 03:41 PM
How many cars a day go through that curve and don't crash. 3 in a year is not alot, if thousands of people navigated the curve correctly.

My condolences go out to the driver of the car. Bottom line: a fellow human being and their family are suffering. Other then best wishes, the only appropriate comments are that we all should slow down and drive safely.
B Boylan August 23, 2012 at 04:40 PM
I can not understand the sympathy here. Driving a car under the influence is the same thing as pointing a loaded gun at a crowd. This guy fired that gun and missed.. This is only my opinion and a rather extreme analogy but i do not know the man and might feel different if I did. Would still tell him he was an idiot either way. Call a cab anyone? Hindsight is 20/20. Foresight is where true good judgement is found. Nothing good can happen when you suck down drinks and drive a car. Everyone knows that. Some choose to ignore that fact and deserve what they get. If you keep enabling this dude, guarantee he gets another dwi within 2 years. Guarantee it.

i cannot believe how insensitive most of these people are. we all make mistakes, it is not necessary to speak of why and how this happened, open your heart and pray for him and his family. this could very well be one of your sons, or brothers, etc.
reg August 23, 2012 at 07:08 PM
jarod is a great guy who made a mistake nice 2 know how sympathetic this world still is

Not one person who has made a comment on here is perfect. It seems that some of you have forgotten that. Jarrod made a mistake. He is a great guy that would do anything to help someone. He is suffering now and will face what comes legally when he is better. And, a jury will decide his fate NOT YOU! So get over it. Get well JRod!
George F August 24, 2012 at 02:15 AM
Thank god Jarod did not kill or harm anyone else. While i respect the compassion of those posting good wishes for the driver, i can can not help but wonder how you would all feel if he had crashed into a member of your family! Can you imagine your innocent son or daughter lying lifeless on the street, killed by a driver under the influence??? DUI needs to stop and the empathy and lack of concern for the gravity of this "mistake" only eases the mind for others to do the same. Yes, it was a mistake. But please do not undermind how "big" a mistake this is. Hopefully jarod gets well and can help get the word out that DUI is not "okay" and that the "victim" is not the DUI driver... There is a lesson to be learned, here. As social beings, I only hope that we all learn the lesson.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's funny that article has to explain what an Aston Martin is ? Seriously is ms Johnson the only person on earth who has never seen a James bond movie ? (yes I know I should be making "serious" comment)
Meredith August 24, 2012 at 02:46 AM
Honestly you people have nothing better to do. This is coming from Jarrods FAMILY. Let him be and let our family be. Is it tragic...yes...was it a bad act of judgement...yes...will he and the rest of his family reap the consequences...yes...TRUE FRIENDS would never ever allow a friend to drink and drive...ever...so those who feel badly and so forth..I hope this serves as an example to all of you people...and for those who knew that perhaps he had substance abuse problems, shame on u for brushing it under the rug. No self respecting individuals who cares about a person as much as they claim they do or did would ever allow this. Is he a big boy...yes...but friends do not let friends drink and drive. But it's all fun and games to u all.
Max August 24, 2012 at 02:52 AM
what a bunch of hypocrites hiding behind their computers. I will go out on a limb here and say that almost everyone with the negative comments has had a friend or relative drive under the influence . That's a Fact ! Maybe they were more fortunate and either didn't get harmed or did and were barely scolded by you perfect people. Calling him and idiot and other names does not make this matter better in any way shape or form. From what I understand he is in very grave condition. Regardless of how irresponsible and selfish it may have been for him to be driving in an alleged impaired state. Why don't we all just say thanks that no innocent people were additionally harmed and give our thoughts and players to Jarrod's family at this time in need. He made a terrible judgement call to get behind the wheel and he is paying for it. This is a young man that overcame great odds and became very successful .I bet he would do it right if given another chance . He is not a bad person by any means . Cut him a little slack people . Like I said we all probably have had people in our lives (friends or family) that have done something of this nature and I bet you probably were't as harsh on them. It was more like "Oh thank God your okay that was very stupid you could have killed yourself " Right ? Think back and tell me if I'm wrong. If I am . well then you have the only set of perfect friends and family in the world .
Meredith August 24, 2012 at 03:00 AM
Seriously, jarrod has a heart of gold and is very giving, hence the reason for the leaches. No one ever had his best interest at heart!! Those who claim they know jarrod...do not really know jarrod...so pride yourselves on something else. If any one really cared, they would have helped him get help. It was his choice, but it's completely hypocritical to sit here and say all these things because of the guilt u all feel for not doing anything when you all had a chance.
who loves you August 24, 2012 at 05:05 AM
It does not say he was drunk. I know this person, and it mentions a controled substance...aka prescription. He might have had doctors orders. Doesn't make right but don't judge so fast. This guys family is pretty wrecked too.
who loves you August 24, 2012 at 05:40 AM
You are dead on! Maybe have met 2-3 people in my life that can honestly say they have never had a drink and driven. Fact of life people, it happens.

I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THOSE FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS WHO UNDERSTAND THAT YES HE MADE AN ERROR IN JUDGEMENT BUT STILL CARE ABOUT HIM. I LIKE WHAT MAX SAID. TY MAX. IF ONLY WE TURN BACK THE CLOCK BUT WE CANT. DONT YOU THINK HE WILL BE HARD ON HIMSELF?? DOESN'T NEED YOUR HARSH WORDS. RIGHT NOW ALL HE NEEDS ARE PRAYS. REMEMBER "IF YOU HAVE NOTHING NICE TO. SAY THAN SAY NOTHING. KEEP PRAYING AND I THANK YOU FROM JARROD AND HIS FAMILY

DATA TO GOD WE GIVE U ALL THE GLORY AND THE PRAISE. WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR A SUCESSFUL RECOVERY. WE ASK GOD THAT YOU SHOW UP AND HEAL JARROD. GOD ALLOW HIM TO BE A TESTIMONY TO OTHER PEOPLE.

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"- John 8:7 " Judge not lest ye be judged"-Matthew 7:1 Compassion: Sympathetic conciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. Thank God nobody else was hurt. May the Lord bless the Jarrod Isoldi and help him to heal. May God also bless and keep his family safe from any future unkind postings and self righteous individuals. My prayers and sympathies.

While I refrain from disparaging personal remarks about this individual the fact remains that innocent people lose their lives every day due to impaired drivers. So lets temper the hostile comments with compassion but look to our judicial system to mete out appropriate punishment.
reg August 24, 2012 at 08:26 PM
punish really? i think thats been done
resident August 24, 2012 at 09:33 PM
The State of New Jersey might disagree with that notion.
LOKO August 25, 2012 at 04:11 AM
LOKO JROD, My prayers go out to you and your family.
Rational Randy August 25, 2012 at 04:04 PM
This is a sad tragic situation. My prayers go out Jarrod and his family. Even though he has been through a lot, his actions are intolerable in the eyes of the law. But rather than crucify the guy, maybe look into why he was drinking and driving. The article mentioned a controlled substance found in the car. Maybe he has issues that need to be addressed such as addiction rehabilitation. I'm not condoning his actions, but addressing his issues would be far better than trying to hang the guy. Luckily, no one else got hurt; but he needs help before he does the same thing again. Good Luck and Get Well !!!!!
