UPDATE: Two CEI Employees Hospitalized After Possible Carbon Monoxide

Emergency services responded to the scene Monday afternoon in Holmdel.

A possible carbon monoxide leak may have caused some employees to fall ill at Cosmetic Essence Innovations.

A Holmdel Police news release stated two female employees of CEI were briefly hospitalized after falling ill around 5:15 p.m. Both women were later released from the hospital.

CEI closed overnight due to an ongoing investigation of what exactly caused those illnesses. According to police, the business remained closed Tuesday morning and hired an outside firm to further investigate the possible leak.

Detective Louis Torres said it appeals carbon monixide levels in the building are now normal.

Responding to the call were the Holmdel Police, Holmdel First Aid, Holmdel Fire Rescue Company #2, Holmdel OEM, Monmouth County Hazmat, Monmouth County OEM, Monmouth County Health Department, Monmouth County EMS and numerous other area fire companies and first aid squads.
