Update: Car Overturns in Holmdel Towne Center Parking Lot

Police, firefighters, EMS respond to accident in front of PetSmart.

A car being driven by a Red Bank woman overturned in front of  store Thursday afternoon, drawing stunned onlookers and emergency vehicles to the scene. 

According to Holmdel Police, the car driven by Marika Covington, 71, of Half Mile Road, struck a parked vehicle, struck the curb, drove onto a landscape island, struck a tree, and then overturned. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m.

Covington was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center by the Holmdel First Aid Squad and MONOC Paramedics, and was listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries as of Thursday evening, police said.

Also assisting at the scene were policemen Capt. Frank Allocco, Cpl. Gerard Burke, Ptl. John Allen, and Ptl. Michael Dowens and the Holmdel Fire Company #2 volunteer squad.
