Car Jacked from Hazlet Had Baby Girl Inside, Authorities Say

A Jersey City man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking. The infant in the backseat was located and is okay.

A carjacking incident in Hazlet Wednesday ended with an arrest and no injuries, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Around 12:20 p.m., Rodney Anderson, 44, of  Jersey City allegedly carjacked a vehicle from a woman with her child in the backseat on 13th Street in Hazlet.

Police pursued the vehicle before losing sight of it in Keyport. The car was found on Broad Street in Keyport with the infant inside and unharmed, according to authorities. 

Anderson was found and arrested at the Cliffwood Avenue intersection of Aberdeen.

Charges are pending, according to Charlie Webster, public information officer at the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
