A Letter of Gratitude From Holmdel Family, After Thursday House Fire

On May 24, Holmdel Police and area firefighters rushed to put out a fire at the McGreevy home on Crowfield Lane. The family asked this letter be published on Holmdel Patch.

How do you even begin to thank the people that saved your home?

My family is forever indebted to the amazing firefighters of Holmdel Fire Rescue Co. 1 and 2, Hazlet Fire Co. 1, North Centerville, Keyport and Union Beach Fire Companies, The Holmdel Police Department and the Holmdel First Aid Squad.

Their professionalism and quick action was, without a doubt, what kept an accidental fire from becoming a total loss for our family. I was so touched when I saw two firefighters carry my son's toybox out to the lawn to let him know his favorite things were OK. Talk about going above and beyond.

I can't urge you enough to support our local fire companies and first responders, as I am glad I have done. You just never think it will happen to you. Sadly it can.

I also want to acknowledge the extreme kindness and generosity of all our friends and neighbors, especially the Vander Woude and Memtsoudis families. Holmdel is a wonderful community because of the people that live here. We feel blessed.

Sincerely,
Sandi & Chris McGreevy
