Perna Dance has a Magical Time in Disney World

Wow!  When the Editors of the Holmdel-Hazlet Patch asked us to Blog about the experiences Perna had while in Disney last week, there were FULL intentions of posting a daily summary.  However, that being said, we had NO spare time as actual CAST MEMBERS during our time at the Magic Kingdom.

Our first rehearsal day, had all 37 girls in full Reindeer costumes with full performance hair and make up done as after they rehearsed and showed off their "moves" to the Dance the Magic (http://dancethemagic.com/) staff and to the Disney staff, the girls plus 500 other dancers from all over the USA and Canada were to dance their way down Main St USA!!!

Despite some stress prior to our arrival at Disney World due to the girls' limited rehearsal time at the studio, it all paid off as our Dancers were the first 6 lines in their "red" group!!!  This was a HUGE deal to our studio as this is the first time we have worked with Dance the Magic and there were several dance studios that have worked just as hard as our Dancers but we were picked to be in the front of our grouping.  Yes, the "green" group was ahead of us, but the Dance Parents and the PDC staff still stood along the curbs of Main St USA with our heads held high and made sure we bragged to anyone and everyone that would listen that we were the "line leaders" in Red!!!

The girls had limited communication with their parents and friends during rehearsals however, Miss Hedy kept the families as up to date as possible via mass texting - God bless technology!!!  The girls met several girls from all over the US and Canada, saw some backstage areas of Disney and most of all, felt like actual Cast Members.

As our PDC Dancers danced down Main St, they had Cinderella's Castle as their backdrop and their smiles sparkled even more than the Christmas lights on display all over the park!  As many people would agree, walking in a straight line for 2 km is difficult enough, but dancing in a straight line with 500 others, is a challenge but our Dancers made it look like they do it everyday!  It  certainly was amazing to hear the cheers and applause as all the dancers moved down the street.  We're pretty confident that Perna parents cheered the loudest!

After the parade was finished, there were many smiles and photo sharing between parents, as we headed over to Adventure Land to pick up our Cast Members next to Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride.  Initially our Dancers all had plans to "do the Park" after their performance but ooohhh, did we forget to mention it was almost 90 degrees that day?!  Our girls were very tired and very hot, so for many families, it was back to the resort for a dip in the pool and a reboot as Friday, was going to be an extremely long day for the Dancers.

But alas.....more about their rehearsal and the day they danced with Neil Patrick Harris tomorrow!

**Not to be outdone by the 37 students that performed in Disney World, we have approx 150 students that have continued rehearsing and are ready to help kick off the Christmas season this Saturday December 14th at Raritan High School for YULETIDE MAGIC.  A yearly tradition alongside Hazlet Twp featuring dazzling costumes, creative choreography and your Holiday favorites.  Bring the entire family for this FREE dance extravaganza!  RARITAN HIGH SCHOOL at 1:30 pm. **
