SJVHS Debuts Original Play About Bullying, Nov 1-3

This year’s Saint John Vianney High School play will feature an original piece written and directed by the Director of Lancer Productions and SJVHS English teacher, Mrs. Rachel Ryan. The play is called Invisible. It follows a high school senior named Dylan who is bullied and then made to feel like he doesn't exist by his peers. He discovers that his invisibility helps him to see others more clearly, including the most popular girl in school Reagan, his former best friend Ben and a transfer student with a complicated past, Audrey.

On showcasing her original work Rachel said, “I am excited for the opportunity to showcase my work as well as give a voice to those who struggle to be seen every day. There is definitely something to be said for performing the classics, but using theater as a medium for reaching people is a lesson worth teaching our students.”

The kids are excited to originate their roles and breathe life into the characters for the first time. The cast of 21 students includes senior, and Little Theater veteran, Daniel Acquaviva who will play Dylan. Returning players, senior Kelly Bradley and sophomore Michael Rosivack will take on the characters of Reagan and Ben and a newcomer to Lancer Productions, sophomore Abigail Schories, will play Audrey.
