Get Out: Art Festival, Lt. Zilinski II Memorial Run/Walk

On Sunday: the Zilinski Run and a Cheesequake Park nature walk.

When and where: , 883 State Route 34, Matawan on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m.

Why you should go: On the eve of the 100th anniversary of Titanic's ill-fated maiden voyage, Spotlight Players sets sail on its 2011-2012 season with the blockbuster Broadway hit, Titanic – The Musical. The show will take audience members on an emotional roller coaster ride, from the excitement of boarding the largest moving object in the world, to the thrilling and dramatic second half, after the ship collides with a massive iceberg.

What does it cost: $18/ $15 for seniors & students


When and where: Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, 1474 W Front St, Lincroft on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m.

Why you should go: Leave behind crowded malls for a juried art show and sale, featuring the work of local artists showing their paintings, photography pottery, handmade jewelry, paper and fiber arts. 

What does it cost: Free admission, free parking


When and where: , Exit 116, Holmdel on Sunday, Nov. 13. Race registration is at 7:45 a.m., open ceremony is at 8:50 a.m. and the race is at 10 a.m.

Why you should go: The funds raised for the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial 3.5-mile run and 2.0 mile walk helps support: The Fisher House Inc.; Underwater Warriors, Inc.; Troopers Assisting Troops; Specialist Brendan Marrocco; Thomas Jerome House; LCpl. Colin Pascik; WIA Hunt; Cpl. Rory Hamil; New Jersey’s Run For the Fallen; Gold Star Mom Florence McSween; Wife of Staff Sgt. Jeremy Katzenberger, killed in action June 14, 2011, and PFC Derek McConnell and his mother. In addition, boxes of supplies have been provided to troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

What does it cost: Free admission


When and where: Cheesequake State Park, 300 Gordon Rd, Matawan on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at the nature center.

Why you should go: It's a beautiful time of year to walk around and enjoy the fall foliage and the weather is supposed to be sunny and just under 60 degrees on Saturday. Make sure to bring a camera!

What does it cost: Free admission, free parking


When and where: 62 Longstreet Rd, Holmdel on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

Why you should go: Longstreet Farm is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as the farm dates back to the 1700s, but it has been restored to give it the look and feel of a late-19th century farmhouse. The staff dresses in period costume as they plow, plant, harvest, cook and clean as per the custom of the day. Visitors can milk the cows, grind corn into feed and cut wood for the wood stove and on this day, they can see first hand what it was like to be a blacksmith.
