Frugal Family: Holmdel Park Demos, Red Bank Farmers Market, Outdoor Adventure Expo

Activities and deals in Monmouth County that the whole family can get in on.

The weather is getting warmer and the outdoor events are increasing around Monmouth County. This week, we have some fun events guaranteed to get your taste buds and your bodies moving. Take the kids, get outside and have some fun. Remember to keep those suggestions coming--we love hearing from you and posting your finds.

Holmdel Park Quilting Demo and Music Man

  •  62 Longstreet Rd, Holmdel, NJ

So much to do at Holmdel Park, like take the kids on the playgrounds, fish in the lake, stroll through the woods, visit the farm or see a demonstration. All free. On Saturday May 14, see a Quilting Demonstration about how quilting was done during the Victorian era from 1:00pm–3:00pm. On Sunday May 15, hear Music Man Rich Marzec at Longstreet Farm play tunes from the turn-of-the-century 1:00pm–3:00pm.

Red Bank Farmers Market

  • 2 Bridge Ave, Red Bank

The Galleria Red Bank Farmers Market offers fresh, locally-grown produce from some of New Jerseys finest farmers and also showcases unique crafts and wonderful eateries. NJ Outdoor Adventure Expo

  • 200 Georgia Road, Freehold

The Outdoor Adventure Expo at Turkey Swamp Park Freehold is loads of fun for the family. Rain or shine, you can try out all the greatest features our county's parks have to offer on Sunday, May 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities include a fishing derby, free lectures, demonstrations, mini-clinics, and nature hikes. Visitors are encourages to try kayaks, canoes and paddleboats, as well as the park system's 25-foot rock climbing wall. Parking and admission is free. Johnny Rockets

Have a blast heading back to the past at Johnny Rockets Family Night on Thursday, May 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Enjoy Antsy the Clown, activities for the kids, and a night of good food and entertainment. Get a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult entree.

Annual Steak & Bake Dinner

  • 31 Union Street, Red Bank

Take the family out for a great meal and make some amazing memories on Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at the Monmouth Boat Club. For $40 per person and $20 for children under 12, you can get an all you can eat steak and bake dinner, which includes beef tenderloin served on French bread, french fries, an olive and pickle tray, salad, ice cream sundaes, and soft drinks. You are welcome to bring your own beer or wine. There is also a 50/50 Raffle and chance auction. This night of good food and fun will help support Rumson-Fair Haven Rowing. The event has sold out in years past, so get your reservations in early.
