Ruth Dean, Former Holmdel School Librarian, Dies at 90

Dean was a library clerk for Holmdel Township schools until 1989.

Ruth P. Dean, 90, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Holmdel, New Jersey, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.

She was born Aug. 12, 1922 in Trenton to the late John and Annie (Shaw) Proctor. Ruth retired as a library clerk from the Holmdel Twp. Schools. She moved to Dublin, Ohio in 1989. For the past 6 years she has lived at Friendship Village of Dublin where she was an avid bridge and scrabble player. She has been a member of the Indian Run United Methodist Church in Dublin since moving to Ohio. 

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Dean; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Dean. Ruth will be missed by her loving son, Geoffrey Dean and granddaughters, Amanda and Jennifer Dean, all of Upper Arlington; and sisters-in-law, Vivian Heaney, Morganville, NJ and Ann Mills, Holmdel, NJ. 

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Friendship Village of Dublin, 6000 Riverside Dr., Columbus, Rev. David Brown officiating.

Burial at a later date in Old Tennent Cemetery, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to Indian Run United Methodist Church, 6305 Brand Rd, Dublin OH 43016.
