Obituary: Mario Spalliero, 69, Restaurateur

Spalliero was born in Italy. With his family, he operated the Roman Inn, now called Yesterday's, with locations in Hazlet and Bayville.

Mario Spalliero of Bayville, New Jersey, passed away on May 19, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends.

Mario was born on March 8, 1945, in Maddaloni, Italy and grew up in Newark, New Jersey.

In 1966, he relocated to Hazlet, New Jersey and together with his family, owned and operated the "Roman Inn," now "Yesterday's" and most recently, "Yesterday's" in Bayville, New Jersey.

Mario was a successful restaurateur and business man. He was a true family man, who cherished his loved ones and placed family above all else.

Mario is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Josephine Pascarella Spalliero, his beloved brother, Anthony Spalliero and his dear nephews Joseph and Domenic Spalliero.

Mario is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Maria Spalliero, his loving children, Frank Spalliero and his wife Angie of Bayville, New Jersey and Silvia Shoiab and her husband Ali of Bayville, New Jersey, along with his dear brother, sisters and sister-in-law, Vincent Spalliero and his wife Marie of Oceanport, New Jersey, Maria Nanna and her husband Louis of Aberdeen, New Jersey, Angela Aviles and her husband John of Union Beach, New Jersey and Domenica Spalliero of Holmdel, New Jersey.

Mario is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Rosa Spalliero, Zachary Shoiab, Joseph Spalliero, Sami Shoiab, Anthony Spalliero and Andrew Spalliero, along with his many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 2:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday morning, May 23, 2014 from 8:30 to 9:15 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.

A Funeral Liturgy in celebration of Mario's life will be offered on Friday morning, May 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville, New Jersey 08721. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 56 Cedar Grove Road, Toms River, New Jersey 08753.
