Obituary: Calvin Hart of Holmdel, Was Active in the Arts and Opera

Former President of the Monmouth Conservatory of Music, the Monmouth County Arts Council, the Holmdel Republican Club.

Calvin Cobb Hart was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, son of Irving Warren Hart, Jr., editor of the Idaho Statesman and Helen Logan Hart, artist.

He served for 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and then moved to NYC where he began his life-long career in advertising sales. He married Maggie Paff and within 5 years formed his own advertising firm.

During his lifetime, Calvin served as President of the following organizations: the Monmouth Conservatory of Music, the National Association of Publisher Representatives, the Monmouth County Arts Council, the Holmdel Republican Club and also Opera Producer for the Monmouth Conservatory Opera/Operetta Society.

Calvin was an avid painter of land, sea and cityscapes. A prolific artist, his paintings have won awards both locally and regionally. He and Maggie resided in Holmdel, NJ for the past 50 years where they raised their 3 children.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Maggie; his grown children, Gregory, (wife Bobbi) of Fairfax, VT; Gretchen Anderson, (husband Steve) and Calvin’s 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Kayli of Glastonbury, CT; and his son Charles Logan Hart of Neptune, City, NJ.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the care of Maxwell Funeral Home, Little Egg Harbor.
