Mary Lorraine Benson of Hazlet, 78, Has Died

Benson was a longtime resident of Hazlet, with roots in Holmdel and Keyport.

Mary Lorraine (Maley) Benson, 78, of Hazlet, passed away, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.  

Born in Kearny, she resided in Keyport and Holmdel before moving to Hazlet 43 years ago.  

Mary attended nursing school where she obtained her certificate as a licensed x-ray technician.

She worked as a customer service representative with United Teletech, Tinton Falls.  

She was a member of Eastern Star; she loved knitting and playing with her grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Russell W. in 1985; her parents, William and Bernice Smith Maley; and a sister, Beverly Smith.  

She is survived by her loving children, Russell Benson and wife, Dawn; and Brian Benson and wife, Stacy, all of Hazlet; a dear sister, Joyce Calcutta and husband, Peter of Little Egg Harbor; cherished grandchildren, Russell, Kaitlyn, Brian Jr. and Julianne; an adored niece and nephew, Kim Brookes and husband, Bill and Randy Trembley, all of Union Beach.  

Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited, Friday, October 5, 2012, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Saturday, October 6, 2012, 10 a.m., with a 10:30 a.m. service at the funeral home.  

Interment to follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
