Holy Name Society Member, Longtime Bayshore Resident Dies at 82

Richard Bryson, 82, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 30, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. Richard was born on January 4, 1931 in Everett, Massachusetts, where he was raised. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. Richard served during the Korean Conflict; he entered the war in Norfolk, Virginia. After the war, he moved to Newark, New Jersey. He also lived in various parts of the Bayshore Area and was currently settled in Hazlet, New Jersey.

Richard was a retired corrections officer in Essex County, New Jersey. He was the past president of the PBA #157 and a member of the Hazlet Senior Club. Richard was an extremely active communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Union Beach, New Jersey. He served as an usher during masses, was a member of the Holy Name Society, the past president of the Golden Age Group and was named Man of the Year in 2009.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret McKay Bryson, sixteen brothers and sisters and his son in law, Jose Lopes. Richard is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, JoAnn (Logan) Bryson, his loving children, Richard T. Bryson and his wife Joan of Elberon, New Jersey, Lynda Arasin and her husband Martin of Sea Bright, New Jersey, Dawn Lopes of Wallingford, Connecticut, Suzanne Lampe and her husband Jeffrey of Middletown, New Jersey, Bonnie Carmichael and her husband Reginald of Gainesville, Florida, Kenneth Bryson and his wife Mary of Belford, New Jersey, Marianne A. Bennett and her husband Daryl of Hazlet, New Jersey, Elizabeth A. Ahlfeld of Hazlet, New Jersey and William L. Ahlfeld and his wife Jennifer of Wall, New Jersey, his dear sister, Kay Mazzochia of Andover, Massachusetts, along with sixteen cherished grandchildren, seven adored great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning, July 6, 2013 from 8:15 to 9 a.m. at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, July 6, 2013 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735 at 9:30 AM.

In respect of Richard's wishes, he will be privately cremated. In Lieu of flowers donations to the Holy Name Society at Holy Family Parish, P.O.
