Hazlet Resident Gerardine Hern Dies at 54

Hern worked at Bayshore Community Hospital and was a proud member of the Happy Hat Club.

Gerardine Hern, 54, of Hazlet, NJ, died on Tuesday at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, NJ. She was born in Queens, NY and lived in Hazlet with her family since 1964. Gerardine worked at Bayshore Community Hospital until her retirement in 2010. She was a proud member of the Happy Hat Club.  Gerardine loved her arts, she enjoyed ceramics, knitting, and crocheting.  She was an avid cook and she loved to watch old musicals.

Surviving are her husband, Dennis  Hern; her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jules and Carol Ann Aerts, and Richard and Elizabeth Aerts; her beloved nieces and nephews, Julianne, Joe, Jennylee, Eliana, Abigail, and Derek; and her many loving friends and family.

Gerardine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Diane Aerts, her maternal grandparents, Jules and Blanche Margules, and her paternal grandparents, Johannes and Antoinette Aerts in the Netherlands.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for 8:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family RC Church, 727 Hwy 36, Hazlet. Burial will follow at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo.
