Former Telephone Operator for NJ Bell Labs Died at 87

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church.

Helen K. Harmata, 87, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Hazlet, New Jersey.

She was born Helen K. Komentch on March 30, 1926 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where she grew up. She was currently settled in Hazlet, New Jersey.

Helen was a retired telephone operator for N.J. Bell phone company. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Anna (Zelanak) Komentch and her beloved husband, Theodore Harmata. Helen is survived by her loving children, Helen Stellingwerf of Middletown, New Jersey and Theodore Harmata and his wife Patricia of Hazlet, New Jersey, along with her cherished grandchildren, Kelly Stellingwerf, Shannon Hamilton, Scott Stellingwerf, Erin Handschin, T.J. Harmata, Amanda Woosley and twelve adored great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, April 4, 2013, time to be announced. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 490 State Street, Perth Amboy, New Jersey 08861, time to be announced. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
