Elaine Aumack, Keyport Mayor's Wife and Former BOE Member, Dies at Age 74

M. Elaine Aumack, 74, a 63 year Keyport resident and wife of Keyport Mayor, Harry Aumack II, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013. Elaine was born in Newark to William and Catherine (Healy) Larkin. She moved to Keyport in 1950. She graduated from St. Joseph's School in Keyport and then in 1957 from Keyport High School.

Elaine is predeceased by her parents, William and Catherine Larkin; brothers, William, Thomas and Theodore; sisters, Janet West, Doris West and June McNulty; and her daughter, Theresa Aumack. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harry M. Aumack II; children, Harry M. III and wife Valerie of Union Beach, Catherine Bandy and husband Gary of Ruskin, FL, James and wife Dottie of Keyport, Christine Biermeier and husband Terry of Pinellas Park, FL, John and wife Rachel of Keyport, and Robert and wife Jessica of Keyport. Elaine was the proud "Grammy" of 10 grandchildren, Cassandra, Harry IV, Victoria, Kate, Jackson, Lauren, Samantha, Halie, Kayla and Juliette. She is also survived by her sister, Claire Tomasello and husband, Sylvester of Manchester; mother-in-law, Mildred Aumack of Sun City, FL; and sisters-in-law, Lolita Collis and husband Dan of Ruskin, FL, Dorothy King and husband William of Albemarle, NC, and Elizabeth Larkin of Lawrenceville, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elaine had a long history of community service in Keyport. She was a 56 year member of the Keyport Hook & Ladder Co. Ladies Auxiliary, served 9 years on the Keyport Board of Education, several year member of Keyport P.T.A., Mothers' Club and Keyport High School Hall of Fame Committee, member of the Republican Club and former Monmouth County Executive Committee woman for the Keyport Fifth District.

Elaine was the "loudest" rooter for the Keyport High School football team for several years when each of her sons were team members.

She is leaving a void in the lives of her immediate family and her extended family of the Keyport Fire Department, Keyport School System and the Keyport political scene.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Bedle Funeral Home, 61 Broad St., Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at Holy Family R.C. Church, Union Beach. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery in Keyport.
