Sgt. John Lyons - Rest in Peace

Sgt. John A. Lyons from Seaside Park, New Jersey, is the latest casualty in the war in Afghanistan, Pentagon officials announced on Friday.

Sgt. John A. Lyons, 26, died Wednesday in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 8th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas, according to the Defense Department.

He will be Honored and Remembered as a true New Jersey Hero and has been added to the Wall.
