Do You Ever Stop to Thank a Volunteer?

Ever thank a volunteer?

There is a video posted on the Red Bank Patch here...http://redbank.patch.com/articles/red-bank-firefighter-s-helmet-cam-capt... and the footage comes from a Red Bank firefighter's helmet camera.   Please take a few minutes to watch it and then answer this question....

"Who are these firefighters??"   Answer...

"They are all Volunteers"

Scenes in that video are from Red Bank but it could easily be your town where similar scenes take place on a daily basis.   These volunteers not only give up literally hundreds of hours each year to protect you and your property but sadly even give of their lives every month.   A preliminary report for 2012 shows that 36 volunteer firefighters died on duty and tens of thousands are injured.

Ever stop to think that the cost to your town to provide the same level of protection using "paid" firefighters could literally cost your town millions of $s every year and where that money would come from?

Ever stop to think of the personal cost to these men and women and their families as they leave their homes and jobs to come to your aid?

Ever stop to think that the same dedication and selflessness applies also to all the men and women from your local First Aid Squad who show up at your house in the middle of the night to save your family member's life?

Day after day these volunteers simply show up, do their job and go home without any thanks or appreciation from anyone.

Perhaps it's time for you to take a few minutes of your time, stop by your local Firehouse or First Aid building and say two words - "Thank you"........
