'Sandy Ground: Where Angels Play' Groundbreaking in Union Beach

Join The RAINE Foundation and the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) for the official ground breaking. Fireman's Park Friday April 5, 2013, 9:00 am Front Street, Union Beach.

Inspired by the senseless violence in Newtown CT, and on the heels of the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, the RAINE Foundation has continued in our mission to help children in crisis.

RAINE Foundation is proud to announce our partnership with the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) to create The Sandy Ground 26, Where Angels Play. The idea to build playgrounds came from them – as they were emotionally distraught after the recent tragedies of Hurricane Sandy and the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary.

In an effort to restore the storm-ravaged east coast, this project endeavors to create 26 living memorials to all children who have been victims of violence while creating a safe, fun place for them to play.

In this partnership, RAINE Foundation has purchased one of the 26 playgrounds to be built. They have identified Fireman’s Park, Union Beach as the site, which seems so perfect with a beautiful waterfront view.

We will be memorializing Jack Pinto, a six-year old boy who lost his life on that tragic day at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Jack was an avid New York Giant’s fan, and was even buried in Victor Cruz’ jersey. Jack loved playing on the swings, which is why we will honor his memory by including a great swing set.

This is an opportunity for many to assist. The official groundbreaking is scheduled for April 5th at 9:00 a.m. at Firemen’s Park on Front Street in Union Beach. We will continue the entire weekend from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. All are welcome! There are projects for everyone!
