Join RAINE at Playground Ribbon-Cutting in Union Beach Saturday

May 4, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Firemen's Park in Union Beach, NJ, the RAINE Foundation, and the NJFMBA, will dedicate the new playground that was built in Jack Pinto's memory.

RAINE (Reaching All in Need Everyday) is a New Jersey non-profit organization established in 2001 after the tragedy of September 11th, to assist children and their families who are in crisis.

Inspired by the recent senseless violence in Newtown CT, and on the heels of the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJFMBA) has created The Sandy Ground, Where Angels Play.

This project is a collaboration between New Jersey Firefighters and local nonprofit organizations that will build 26 playgrounds, each named specifically for one of the Newtown victims, in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy. A twenty-seventh playground will honor first responders who aided in Connecticut and during Hurricane Sandy.  The RAINE Foundation is proud to have been selected to partner with the NJFMBA in this endeavor.

The site that was chosen for our playground is Firemen’s Park in Union Beach.  This playground is being built in memory of Jack Pinto, a six year old boy who was a victim of the tragedy in Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Jack was an avid Giants fan, and was even laid to rest in his Victor Cruz jersey.  The Giants’ colors of blue and red are just one way that the playground will have Jack’s imprint.  The Pinto family has generously given the RAINE Foundation Jack’s handprint.  This handprint has been incorporated into a monument that also includes the handprints of hundreds of Union Beach children.
