Beware of Facebook!

BEWARE OF FACEBOOK

Facebook is the most dangerous and destructive of the "social media" ever to exist. It can become terminally addictive,* waste a LOT of your time, lower your IQ, increase your weight, reduce your attention span, and isolate you from real world discovery and genuine face-to-face communication. Together with texting and Twitter, it supports bullying and harassment among school children.

Facebook can facilitate identity theft, and learns much more about you than you would care to have known.  It also harbors predators!  On June 21, 2013, Facebook admitted to a security breach that affected six million users; it has  been active for a year and has inappropriately disclosed users' email addresses and telephone numbers.

Even if you are not a Facebook user, just "Liking" something on a website results in the collection of some of your personal information.  "You give us a thumbs-up, we give you the finger."

Also, Facebook is now hijacking or substituting e-mail addresses without users' permission.

I have been told by others (since I have never been on Facebook and will never go near it), that once one gets into Facebook, it is very difficult or impossible to get out of it. It is the "Roach Motel" of cyberspace. Thus, "FarceCrook" is the worst of the sociopathic "nut-works".

BOTTOM LINE

Avoid or abandon Facebook - a virtual tar pit -  so you won't end up permanently pinned to your own wall.

Go out and meet your REAL friends and play your REAL games, in color and 3D and face-to-face, without the need of WiFi or an Internet connection.  This is much, much safer and healthier for you.

If you wish to share photos or chat with family and friends who are far away, just use regular old e-mail or applications like Skype.

* According to psychologist and professor Larry Rosen, nearly 30% of people born after 1980 feel anxious if they cannot check Facebook every few minutes! (Businessweek, June 25th, 2012, page 34.)

* Consumer Reports - June 2012, page 24 - had an 8 page feature article titled "Facebook & your privacy," that warns of multiple Facebook dangers. Examples: Many people publish when they will be gone from home, a tip-off to burglars. Facebook collects more data than you imagine and it is shared more widely than you may wish. Many young teens are targeted by predators. And much more! The entire article is very worthwhile reading.

* Newsweek magazine - July 16, 2012, page 24 - had a 6 page feature article on how "connection addiction" is causing panic, depression and psychosis in a significant portion of the population. It is making us "iCRAZY."
