Eatontown NJ – November 2011 Why continue to rent when you may qualify to purchase an affordable home, with most mortgage payments less than your current monthly rental expense.

Learn how income-qualified households can purchase an affordable home by attending this free workshop on Saturday, December 10. The workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church, located at 124 Atkins Avenue in Asbury Park. Refreshments will be served.

Topics covered will include:

  • What is the first step to home ownership?
  • How do you buy a home?
  • How does good or bad credit affect me?
  • What types of loans are available?
  • How can I qualify for a low interest loan?
  • Do I qualify for down payment or closing cost assistance?

The workshop will also include a special preview of SAGAN House (Solar, Affordable, Green, Accessible, Net-zero Energy), a new affordable home design developed by the Affordable Housing Alliance. Information on affordable homes for sale will also be available. Current affordable homes for sale are located in Asbury Park, Eatontown, Manalapan, Marlboro, Tinton Falls and more Monmouth County locations.

Individual attendees must also complete two Financial Literacy Sessions before being awarded a certification of completion. Individual Home Buyer Counseling assessments are also available for interested post workshop attendees to help assist them with determining their mortgage readiness, scheduled by appointment only.  Please note that completing these workshops prior to closing on a mortgage loan are required by many mortgage lenders, as well as all down payment assistance programs today. The Affordable Housing Alliance is a HUD-Certified housing counseling agency.

Seating is limited to 40; no children or unregistered guests may attend. The workshop is free but you must call 732-389-2958 by December 7 to pre-register.
