Superstorm Sandy washed away a stretch of Monmouth County's most scenic walking, running and biking paths -- a section along the water between Popamora Point in Highlands and the Municipal Marina in Atlantic Highlands.
The path has been closed since the Oct. 29, 2012 storm while permits were secured and design and construction issues were worked out.
But thanks to staff and volunteers from the Monmouth County Park System—with assistance from Atlantic Highlands Department of Public Works — the Parks system is announcing this broken link will re-open in mid-to-late December,

When work is complete, trail conditions will be "primitive," the Park System said in a press release.
