Shark's Teeth, Fossils and Fun

.  Welcome to our blog.  Friends of Holmdel Open Space (FOHOS) is a non-profit (501c(3) organization whose goal is to preserve and help maintain open space in Holmdel, and to help kids and adults understand the importance of open space.
On June 22 FOHOS sponsored a fossil walk at the Ramanessin Brook Nature Trail across from the Holmdel Village School.  Who would believe that right in the center of Holmdel, you could find shark's teeth 72 million years old.  But on the 22nd, kids and their parents waded into the Ramanessin Brook and after sigting through the sand were able to find shark's teeth which date back to the time when this area was under the ocean, the late Crustacean periol.  The walk was led by Brenda Tuller, a fossil guide from Poricy Park.
