Wizard of Oz

The Holmdel Theatre Guild of Holmdel High School proudly presents “The Wizard of Oz” on March 7, 8 & 9, 2013 at 7:30 pm in the high school auditorium.


The L. Frank Baum classic is true to the 1939 movie with some interesting twists more loyal to the original book. All the familiar songs are there including “Over the Rainbow”, “Followthe Yellow Brick Road”, “If I Only Had a Brain, Heart, Courage” with a few songs notincluded in the film. The production will feature a full live orchestra with colorful setsand costumes.


Senior Kirin Dombek will portray Dorothy Gale with juniors Sara Stark and AshwinPrasanna as the Scarecrow and Tinman respectively. Senior Rob Christie is theCowardly Lion. Senior Alyssa Metger is the Wicked Witch, junior Claire Gates is Glinda, Sorceress of the North. Junior Chris O’Neill will portray the Wizard. “The Jitterbugs” is a musical number dropped from the movie but is included in this production featuring Emma Weber, Kate Daly, Matt Ferreira and Gustavo Brito.

The munchkins of Munchkinland will be portrayed by high school students andmembers of the Indian Hill student body. Rachel Brudner, Julia Shapiro, Kate Daly andNancy Brancati are the “older” munchkins. Our younger munchkins are: Keira Behal, Marissa Campasano, Lindsay Cannon, Sarah Coleman, Mia Goins, Alena Nag, Hannah Sammut, Anjali Shah, Sophia Taverna, Lily Towle, and Kayla Way.


Others in the cast include: Kevin Closs, Hannah Friedman, Rachel Hipschman, Alexandra Koutelos, Evan Kvarantan, Victoria Losurdo, Jerry Lu, Jacob Sadler, Michael Shur, Abhishek Sutrave and Jeffrey Wu.

The production is being directed by Mr. Joseph Clores with musical direction by Mr. Matthew Goetke, Choreography by Ms. Patricia Clores, technical direction by Mr. Robert Smith and lighting by Mr. Ted Mester.
