A PETE SEEGER SONGFEST: TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND

This Songfest is in honor and in spirit of the renowned Pete Seeger who died this January.  His friend, composer/guitarist Jim Scott, will pay tribute to Seeger through songs Saturday, July 19, at 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, Lincroft. Seeger, an iconic American folksinger and activist, has an enormous legacy, including famous songs such as "If I Had A Hammer," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?," and "Turn, Turn, Turn," among many others.

Suggested donation is $10-$15 (sliding scale), and tickets can be bought at the door.  Scott, who collaborated on many projects with the folk legend, will lead the audience in an evening of stories and lots of singing celebrating Seeger’s 94 years of life.  Known to many as the guitarist with the Paul Winter Consort, Scott is a prolific composer in his own right. He compiled and arranged over 100 songs of earth and peace by many contemporary composers, including Pete Seeger.

The event is open to the public and is appropriate for all ages.
