Hinds and Ponisi Keep Seats on Holmdel Township Committee

Both Ponisi and Hinds gained over 30 percent of the vote.

Joe Ponisi and Eric Hinds will keep their seats on the Holmdel Township Committee, after a victory of Karen Strickland and Patricia Mathis.

"Congratulations to our opponents.  It was a well fought campaign.  One aspect of the campaign discussion that concerns me is the attacks on open space preservation," Strickland said. "It is the open space that keeps our town attractive, maintaining our property values, which along with the exceptional schools make Holmdel a special place to live. We need to do all we can as a community to protect what we have."

Results as of 9:45 p.m.:
- Karen S Strickland: 1,627 at 18.68%
- Patricia Mathis: 1,484 at 17.04%
- Eric Hinds: 2,806 at 32.22%
- Joseph Ponisi: 2,793 at 32.07%

"I would like to thank the voters of Holmdel for having the faith in me to serve them for the next three years. We hope to accomplish some great things in the very near future," Ponisi said.

"I would also like to thank my opponents Karen Strickland and Patricia Mathis for running a clean and honest campaign and we look forward to working with everyone in Holmdel to make this town a great place to live."
