Heavy wind and rain are expected tonight in the Holmdel area.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory from 4 p.m. this afternoon until 4 a.m. Monday morning and a coastal tidal flood advisory from 8 p.m. tonight until midnight. Between one and three inches of rain is predicted to fall throughout the afternoon and evening.
Winds are expected to increase in strength throughout the day, with the strongest occurring this afternoon. The National Weather Service predicts winds between 20 to 30 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH, which may take down tree limbs and power lines.
Light-weight outdoor objects such as patio furniture and garbage cans should be secured. Drivers are also asked to use caution when crossing bridges, especially those in high-profile vehicles, according to the advisory.
Tidal flooding is expected in communities along the Atlantic Ocean and the Raritan Bay. High tide for the Raritan Bay tonight is 9 p.m. The combination of high tide and heavy rains is expected to cause minor flooding, the advisory says.
The National Weather Service predicts showers Monday morning, mainly before 8 a.m., and throughout most of next week in the Holmdel area.
