In Matawan 

The Matawan Borough Council is taking a step towards preservation by directing the Historic Sites Commission to catalog and inventory all the century-old buildings in the borough.

In Aberdeen

Two young men from the Cliffwood section were indicted by a Monmouth County Grand with 27 counts related to the alleged burglaries in July of 12 boats in Keyport, two boats in Aberdeen and four cars in Matawan. The pair also face charges of unlawful possession of a weapon... Also in Aberdeen, the Silbert brothers of Holmdel opened Hand & Stone Massage in the Bed, Bath and Beyond shopping plaza off Route 34.

In Marlboro

A development planned for Lloyd Road and Nolan Road that was first discussed in the 1980s is back before the Marlboro Planning Board. The development, a result of the Council on Affordable Housing regulations set for state municipalities, is a 385-unit complex -- 85 of which will be considered affordable housing. The site is on the Aberdeen border.

In Middletown

Plans are in the works to sell the Middletown Swim Club, much to the dismay of members ... Brookdale Community College is lowering its tuition by 2.5%.

In Hazlet

Changes to the Recreation Dept., including the imminent departure of its longtime director, have some parents concerned that the towship's popular and low-cost summer camp is in jeopardy. About 500 children attend the day camp. On Thursday, more than a dozen parents attended a Recreation Commission meeting Thursday seeking answers. Some said afterwards the were dissatisfied by a lack of information. The next Township Committee meeting is on Feb. 21. Mayor David Tinker told Holmdel Patch he is not aware of any plans to cancel camp. Meanwhile, residents are posed questions to township officials on the Hazlet Township's Facebook page.
