10. Bomb Investigation Leads to False Public Alarm Charges in Holmdel. A disturbance call at the Holmdel Motor Inn on Jan. 31 morning led to the arrest of Frank Espen, 48, and the discovery of fake bombs in his hotel room.

9. Holmdel Helps Keansburg Residents Return Home. In the continued aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Holmdel Township is banding together to get the lives of Keansburg residents and their town back to normal. In December, Holmdel announced it would partner with officials in Keansburg in longterm recovery and rebuilding efforts.

8. Police: Holmdel Man Charged With Possession of Heroin in Hazlet. Magdy Samaan, 35 of Hillcrest Court in Holmdel, was arrested and charged in eaely February with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and instent to distribute.

7. Tell Us: Will ShopRite Be Successful at Former Foodtown Location on Route 35 in Hazlet? ShopRite intends to open their doors at the location of the old Super Foodtown on Route 35 in Hazlet, according to a report by the Asbury Park Press. Foodtown was opened in 2009, making it one of 10 Foodtown stores in Monmouth and Ocean counties operated by the Azzolina and Scaduto families.

6. Man Convicted of Attempted Murder in Red Oak Diner Shooting. A Union County man was found guilty of attempted murder, weapons offenses and drug possession after a jury delivered its verdict on Feb. 13 following a three-week trial, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

5. Holmdel High School Accepts Raritan Students After District Map Mistake. A possible error in the Hazlet school district map is causing at least one student to transfer to Holmdel High School just one year before graduation. In a Patch blog entitled "Please Help," Hazlet father Nick Castella looked for an outlet to plead his case. Castella said his son, as well as a handful of other students from Hazlet, are being pushed over the border to Holmdel High School.
