Police: DWI Crash in Holmdel Will Cause Sunday Traffic Delays

A 5 a.m. crash could cause delays on several roads until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

An alleged drunk driving crash took down a traffic pole in Holmdel early Sunday morning, and will continue to cause delays until about 2 p.m.

Daniel Behr, 18 of Matawan was allegedly driving drunk around 5 a.m. when he lost control of his car at the intersection of Everrett, Red Hill, Middletown and Crawfords Corner Roads. 

Behr's Chevy Impala struck a traffic signal, rolled several times, and came to a stop upright according to police. Behr was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured, no other cars were involved.

Behr was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. 

The traffic signal remains down as of 11 a.m. on Sunday. The Monmouth County Highway Department is on scene repairing the signal and a detour to American Way has been posted. Expect delays and a detour until approximately 2 p.m.
