NY/NJ Baykeeper Installs Fishing Line Recycling Receptacles in Keyport Harbor

NY/NJ Baykeeper installed 3 receptacles to recycle monofilament fishing line in the Keyport Harbor.

If monofilament fishing line ends up in the water, mammals, sea turtles, fish and birds can become injured from entanglements, or they can ingest the line, often dying as a result.

Monofilament can also damage boat propellers.

It can also entangle human swimmers.

The receptacles were donated by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Boat U.S. Foundation, Berkley Conservation Institute, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
