Free Mold Remediation Training On June 22.

The Affordable Housing Alliance and NeighborWorks America will present two free mold remediation workshops on Saturday, June 22 led by instructors from the National Center for Healthy Housing.

For anyone whose home or business was damaged during Sandy, making sure that mold remediation is done properly will save money in the long run and have a lasting impact on the long-term health of your family.

Bayshore area residents are especially invited to attend but the workshops are open to the general public as well.

Each workshop will review major health risks when working in a water-damaged home; proper personal protective equipment; how to conduct pre-work inspection; site-preparation - safety, first aid; systematic clean-out and proper tear out procedures; work set-up and staging; tools and supplies; trash removal, storage, temporary electric; pre-construction cleaning and treatment; drying out the building; retrofit upgrade considerations for energy and healthy housing materials and equipment; tips for hiring mold remediation professionals.

Homeowners, renters, business owners, volunteer group leaders, federal and municipal officials, building inspectors, building professionals, contractors and any interested individuals are welcome.

BPI has approved this course for Continuing Education Credits. CEC certificate is awarded upon completion. 

This course is free. Pre-registration is encouraged. Walk-ins will be accepted as long as space is available. Location is Croyden Hall - East Wing, 900 Leonardville Road, Leonardo (Middletown Twp). Two training sessions are available: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
