Central Jersey Blood Center Reaches Out to the Community

Central Jersey Blood Center is announcing several  exciting promotions in an effort to reach out to all eligible community residents to donate blood in the upcoming summer months.  Every summer, blood donations decrease as people take vacations and its high schools that host several blood drives throughout the school year are no longer in session.  Last year, New Jersey had to rely on 42,584 units imported from other states in order to meet the demand of the state’s blood transfusions.   If New Jersey increased its blood donation rate from the current 3.6 percent to the national average of 5 percent, it would no longer need to import blood and any summer shortages would be alleviated.

In an effort to recruit more donors to its fixed collections sites in Shrewsbury, Toms River, and Howell,  Central Jersey Blood Center’s first and most exciting promotion involves a chance to win a $2000.00 Liberty Travel credit.  Any donor who completes a successful donation between May 24th and September 4th will be entered into the drawing to win the $2,000 travel credit, with the winner being announced the week of September 10th.  (this prize is non-transferrable.)

If you would like more information about these or other summer incentives being offered, or would like to schedule an appointment to donate blood,  please call 732.842.5750 ext. 264, or go to Central Jersey Blood Center’s website at www.cjbcblood.org.   You can also visit CJBC on Facebook at www.facebook.com/cjbcenter.
