NYC Produce Terminal Market....Where the Farmers Go to Market

Holmdel-grown produce is sold at Hunts Point Produce Market......The largest wholesale produce market in the world.

Did you know that there is a huge produce market in the Bronx, NY?

It's called the N.Y.C. Terminal Market and it sits on 113 acres of property comprising of 1 million square feet of interior space.  It receives produce deliveries daily by rail, tractor trailer and air cargo from every part of the globe.

It has one of largest selections of fresh fruits & vegetables in the world brought in from over 55 countries and 49 states. There are more than 50 market merchants at the N.Y.C. Produce Terminal Market and it's revenues exceed $2 billion dollars annually, more than any other Produce Terminal Market in the world!  They also donate food to community organizations such as the Food Bank of New York City and City Harvest at the end of every business day.

Our farm ships the majority of its produce to the N.Y.C. Produce Terminal Market three to four times per week.  My husband, a third generation farmer, and his father work seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset and sometimes even later when there is alot of vegetables to sort and pack.  In addition to working all day, they also haul our produce to the market in the evenings during the week and on Sunday afternoons.  I sometimes accompany my husband to the market on Sundays.  We have two boys and they usually take turns coming with us. It takes about an hour and ten minutes to get there from Holmdel and the boys enjoy the sites along the way.

I've attached some photos so you can get an inside look.
