Route 35 ShopRite Opens Its Doors

About 300 people lined up this morning to wait for the 7 a.m. opening.

Early bird customers were chirping after a trip to the new Hazlet ShopRite Wednesday morning. “Much better than the old one,” said one. Another called it “gorgeous.”

More than 300 eager shoppers waited with their carts and weekly fliers in hand for the grocery store to open its doors at 7 a.m. at the Bayshore Shopping Plaza on Route 35.

Connie Mellace of Hazlet was the first customer through the door.  After waiting for nearly an hour, she was welcomed to the store with a bouquet of flowers and gift bag.
