Driver Charged With DWI in Parkway Crash That Injured 7

The two-car accident occurred in Holmdel Tuesday night.

A two-vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway injured seven Tuesday night in Holmdel along the Middletown border. 

According to state police Sgt. Greg Williams, one driver has been charged with driving under the influence.

The accident occurred at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, after Casey Cabot, 36 of Dover, Penn. attempted to exit local lanes in favor of express using a median cut through, Williams said. 

Cabot struck a vehicle driven by Jorge Wilson, 47 of Suffern, NY. Wilson had four other passengers in the car, including his 78-year-old father.

State police said no injuries were life threatening.

Five patients required basic life support and two patients, including one who had to be extricated, needed advanced life support, according to Middletown EMS spokeswoman Beth Edwards said. 

Cabot was charged at the scene with a DWI, reckless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, unsafe lane change and driving on the median strip. 

Middletown, Fairview and Lincroft First Aid squads responded, with Lincroft and Middletown Rescue and Fire helping with the extrication. Port Monmouth First Aid transported the victims and Holmdel First Aid provided lighting during the extrication, Edwards said. MONOC and the New Jersey State Police were also on scene.

CorrectionThis report initially indicated that six people required basic life support services and one required advanced life support. Five patients received basic services and two had advanced life support at the scene.
