Getting Crafty at Michaels with Halloween Decorations

Maybe the best thing about the spooky economy is that more people will seek out their creative spirit to make unique Halloween decorations and costumes.

Michaels, the huge craft store located in the Holmdel Commons on Route 35 South, has a bunch of Halloween-decorating events scheduled in October. Kids get to work on a long table in the store's workshop room. (It's on the left when you walk in.)

Sat, Oct. 8: The Crazy Pumpkin Event. Design an extreme craft pumpkin. Must purchase pumpkin. 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Sun. Oct. 9: Paper Bat Event. Go batty this All Hallows' Eve. Free. 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Sat., Oct 22: Halloween T-Shirt Event. Make a fun scary spider T-shirt. Must purchase shirt. 10 a.m. - Noon

Tues:, Oct 25: Paper Pumpkin Event, Grace your home with ghoulish decor. Free. 10a.m. - Noon

Weds., Oct. 26: Halloween Visor Event. Make a Halloween-themed sun visor. Must purchase visor. 6 p.m - 8 p.m.

Thurs. Oct. 27: Halloween Mask Event. Make your own masquerade mask. Must purchase mask. 6 p.m - 8 p.m.

Fri. Oct 28: Halloween Clay Pot Event. Designyour own adorable clay pot creations. Must purchase 3" clay pot (50 cents). 6 p.m - 8 p.m.

Sat. Oct. 29: Halloween Event. Join the costume parade (1:30 p.m.-2 p.m.), create trick-or-treat Duck Tape totes or pails (11 a.m. - noon) and get little faces painted (noon-1:30 p.m.)

Sat. Oct. 30 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Halloween Crayola Pumpkin Patch Event. Celebrate Crayola style. Free Make-it Take-it.

All events are for ages 3 and up, and while supplies last.
