'Wreaths Across America' Convoy Stops in Holmdel

Those who refuse to forget America's war heroes this holiday season will pay their respects at annual wreath-laying ceremony at the NJ Vietnam Veterans' Memorial at Holmdel at 1 p.m. Hear their excellent theme song by clicking on the video.

There will be a large ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Holmdel today in honor of "Wreaths Across America" day.  

A convoy of trucks carrying wreaths from Maine, heading to Arlinton National Cemetery in Virginia for Dec. 10,  is scheduled to stop in New Jersey on December 7th -- also known as Pearl Harbor Day.

This year the convoy will be escorted by 14 Gold Star Families as well as Police units from Maine and other states. The Veterans' Parade stops at schools, monuments, veteran's homes and communities all along the way to remind people "To Honor, Remember and Teach."

It will first stop at 10 a.m. at the Liberation Monument at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, and at noon, the NJ Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel. Wreaths will be placed to honor American veterans.

At the NJ Vietnam Veterans' Memorial at Holmdel, lunch will be served and the ceremony will begin at around 1:00 p.m. with the laying of 10 wreaths, seven ceremonial with an additional two placed at the Purple Heart Memorial and at the NJRFTF Honor and Remember Flag Pole site.

The American Legion of Monmouth County and the American Legion Posts of Monmouth County urge people to show their respect for our Veterans by lining overpasses on  the Garden State Parkway and I-195 through Monmouth County. In towns such as Freehold, members of the Freehold Olive Branch Lodge #16, Free and Accepted Masons will place wreaths on the memorial crosses at Elks Point.
