Keyport Store Raffles Off Yankee Tickets to Help Boy With Cancer

Raffle tickets are being sold at the Keyport Stop and Shop to support the family of an employee whose son has a rare brain tumor.

Keyport Stop and Shop employees are showing their support of a colleague whose four-year old son has survived very rare brain tumor, but has lost his sight and is now battling cancer.

A photo of Jackson Mitchum and information about him is displayed at the store entrance. He is described as "a kind-hearted, sweet, typical 4-year old little boy" who loves strawberries and aspires to be a policeman one day.

The boy's father is James Mitchum, the Stop and Shop Customer Service Manager in Whiting. The family is moving to Pine Beach Borough.

Tickets are $3 for one raffle ticket, or $5 for two. The drawing is August 9, and the winner will receive two free tickets to the Yankee game on August 11. Tickets are on sale at the Route 35 store, on the Hazlet border.

The family is also selling $25 benefit tickets for an August 4 event at the Jackson VFW to raise money to take their son to Disney World. Donations may be made out to James Mitchum and addressed to #815 Stop and Shop, 4861 Route 9, Howell, NJ. 07731. Attention: Stephanie Cain.
