Relay for Life in Hazlet Raises $60,000 For Cancer Research

A huge volunteer effort has big results. By Andrew LaBarbera.

On June 2nd, Raritan High School in Hazlet hosted the 2nd Annual Relay for Life, coordinated by Andrew LaBarbera.

The event was a huge success, with about 2,000 people participating in the event on the track whom all helped raise over $60,000 for the American Cancer Society.

The day started with the Survivorship luncheon, which is focused on the main reason we relay.

The event then moved to opening ceremony, followed by a wide variety of events and activities for all ages.

Later in the night we had our Luminaria event, which is about celebrating, remembering and fighting back and even though there were 2,000 people on the track, you would not hear anyone as the ceremony was moving and touching.

The committee would like to send out a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the event possible.
