In Hazlet, The East Richard Street Block Party Rocks On

Resident Jennifer Petsch reports on the annual tradition, taking place off Hazlet Avenue in Hazlet Township.

Our East Richard Block Party was a huge success thanks to all our neighbors and friends.

Hazlet Fire Company #1 was kind enough to come and give our children a tour of the truck and a spray-down as well!

The weather cooperated to make it a gorgeous day and children of all ages enjoyed the water slide. Yes, even some adults took a ride down to cool off.

At night, we had our DJ play some music while the adults played some roulette and poker.

In the past we have had pony rides, magicians, kick ball games, the Mad Scientist, hot dog vendors and a bouncy castle.

Just FYI -- anyone looking to have their own block party in Hazlet must go to Town Hall and apply for a permit. A letter will go out to their surrounding neighbors informing them that a certain block would like to have a block party. Then the participating block will receive a letter from town where all participants must sign and then return to the town.

Block parties a great way for everyone for neighbors and friends to get together, but unfortunately not all neighbors will be happy, so please watch your curfews :)

We are alread looking forward to the 2013 East Richard Street block party!
