Holmdel Half Century Club Plans Election for New Officers, Spring Trips

After two years, President Toni Brescia steps down on Nov. 1

At a typical meeting, about 100 Holmdel residents attend the Holmdel Half Century Club meetings, held at the Senior Community Center. The next meeting is Tuesday at noon.

New members are always welcome. You just need to be 50 years old "or better," say club members. The dues are $10 a year, and they have not been raised in years.

The social club is planning is new officer elections, to be held November 1. They are held every two years.

Current President Toni Brescia said her time on the job was "an eye-opener." 

"It was challenging because I was working with less money, and trying to do more things," she said.

Brescia said she enjoyed the dozen or so speakers that came through, particularly Rosemarie Peters of the county surrogate's officer, who spoke on wills and estate planning. Also, the Thursday Mah Jongg group got started and is still going strong, and Bruce McLeod's computer classes came to a close.

The club's social affairs, such as the St. Patrick's Day parties, and the anniversary, Thanksgiving and Christmas affairs, were "beautiful." "I have to give credit to our activities director, Agnes King," she said.

The other leaders are: 1st Vice President Agnes King; 2nd Vice President  John Colligas; Secretary Irene Johnson, and Treasurer Ines Csulak.

The club's meetings are on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The following events have been announced. All are welcome to join the club members.

TRIP TO GEORGIA, March 18-24
