Expect Delays, Detours for Middle Road Improvement Projects
A bridge replacement project and intersection work will affect motorists on busy Middle Road in Hazlet starting August 1.
Two major construction projects along busy Middle Road will begin in coming weeks, affecting everything from school and Academy bus routes, residential access and general traffic.
One project, to replace an aging roadway bridge, will completely close the roadway during construction. Another project, to improve the Middle Road / Union Avenue intersection, will occur simultaneously.
Detours will be set up to divert traffic at Union Avenue and Poole Avenue, sending all traffic to either Highways 35 and 36, according to Hazlet Police.
Middle Road, known officially as County Road 516, connects Main Street in Middletown to Route 36, at Airport Plaza, and continues on through Keyport and Aberdeen.
Monmouth County Engineering is expected to release specific information today about the projects.
