Bayonet Farm Walk

FOHOS (Friends of Holmdel Open Space) will have the first of its “know your parks” walks at Bayonet Farm on Sunday, September 23, right before the Bayonet Farm Arts and Music Festival.   We will meet at 11:15 at the Bulletin Board, in the area between the Harding House and the Red Barn.

You can start your day with a relaxing stroll in the woods before you enjoy the Arts and Music Festival, and find out what is beyond the barns and the Harding House.  We will sample a bit of the miles of trails that wander through the woods and fields.  This will be a short and gentle walk to introduce those who are unfamiliar with the trails to the delights of this park, which can be enjoyed any day in every season.

The trails connect to the Ramanessin section of Holmdel Park, so it is possible to walk for almost as many miles as you wish.  This walk will not enter the Ramanessin, but will go to its boundary so that participants can see how to extend their walks.

Besides the marked trails, there are mowed paths that surround the cultivated fields.  Park visitors are welcome to use these, but are asked to stay off the fields themselves and respect the farmer’s crops.

Maps will be supplied to make it easier for you to explore by yourself.
