Dearborn Market Hosts First S'mores Party

Saying farewell to summer with friends, family and campfire treats.

More than 60 people escaped the Hurricane Irene blues to share a campfire moment at Dearborn Market on Route 35 South. The occasion was an end-of-summer "S’mores Party."

S'mores are a delectable graham cracker and chocolate sandwich, made with a toasted marshmellow inside.

The event kicked off with plenty of food ready for its guests, including Dearborn Market staff working hamburger and hot dog grills and others watching over fire pits. Children were able to roast marshmallows and create their own s’mores treats under the supervision of parents and designated staff members.

The children’s rock band Little Rockers also performed, filling the event with child-friendly music and plenty of energy. Children could be found running to the front of the band, where they led dancing and singing through popular songs.

“It’s fun, I like dancing and this band’s my favorite now,” said five-year old Justin Davis.

The Little Rockers featured songs such as Ready for Rockin’, Count Me In, and Summer Jams.

In the past, Dearborn children’s events mainly involved gardening or hands-on crafts. According to Marketing Manager Emily Luccarelli, “This is something we could give back and thank everyone for participating and being involved during the summer.”
