Cub Scouts Plant Flowers at Village School

Holmdel's scouts did a little landscaping at the elementary school. Written by Jane Zysk.

Friday the 13th brings bad luck? Not to Holmdel’s Village Elementary School!

Cub Scout Packs 131 & 331 of Holmdel chose Friday, April 13th to welcome Spring by planting flowers near the Main Entrance of the school.

Scouts, siblings, and parents arrived ready to go, armed with hand shovels, gardening gloves, a big trash bag, jugs of water, and lots of Scout energy and enthusiasm.

After pruning some dead branches and pulling some pesky weeds, the boys turned their attention to planting.

They decided that the lighter colored flowers should be planted towards the front of the bed, with the darker ones arranged in the back. The boys then dug in and planted four flats of pansies and carefully watered everything.

The parents managed to wrangle the boys in place for a quick group photo, and then they were off to the climbers for some well earned play time.
