4 Things People Want To See Change in Holmdel and Hazlet

Traffic and deer make the list.

On Tuesday we asked Holmdel-Hazlet Patch Facebook readers to comment on "It's a new year, and a chance for improvements. What changes do you want to see in town?"

Here are their wishes for 2014:

  • To see the light on Middle Road and Laurel Ave changed to allow right turn on red. Most days have to wait for the light to change four times before I can get through.
  • Less deer.
  • For better "dangerous curve" ahead postings on Middletown Road. Where there seems to be a wreck every two weeks.
  • A traffic light on the corner of Cresci Blvd and Bethany Rd.
Add your suggestions in the Comments box below.

If you're not going to pave Union Avenue get the police to do something about the speeding. My windows also shake all day and half the night. Also add pedestrian crossing signs. I feel like this is the only town where people don't feel the need to yield to pedestrians.

A center "left turn only" lane in both directions on Bethany Rd. at the intersection of Line Rd.

Thin the deer population. Pave Holmdel Rd starting at Bethany Ave and end at Crawfords Corner Rd. Have an open government that is committed to curtailing spending. Make reading the Patch more user friendly, since the redesign several months ago, it's very hard to find stories once they drop off the first page.

Monthly Lucent progress updates in the Patch or from the TC. Make progress at Cross Farms (lights, jr. football fields, other field and rec needs - we got room), and yeah, a more aggressive and constant deer control plan - maybe appoint a Deer Czar as a volunteer position.

Better signage and lane demarcation at the intersection of Van Schoick/Red Hill Road. There are accidents there weekly.
